ira pants - kala cotton applique (bloom)
Tara Pants
Kala Cotton with Appliqué
Some pieces are designed to move with you.
The Tara Pants are created for comfort, ease, and everyday wear — a relaxed silhouette that feels effortless while carrying the beauty of handcrafted textiles.
At the heart of Tara is the fabric.
The pants are made from Kala cotton, naturally dyed using plant-based dyes. Kala cotton is an indigenous cotton grown in the arid landscapes of Kutch, requiring very little water and thriving in harmony with its environment.
What makes this piece special is the appliqué work.
Small pieces of discarded fabric are carefully layered and stitched by hand onto the surface, creating subtle moments of colour, texture, and movement.
Each shape is placed individually, allowing the composition to emerge slowly — transforming leftover materials into something expressive and new.
There is a quiet playfulness to it.
A reminder that beauty can be found in what already exists.
The Tara Pants are part of our Bloom collection, where materials, craft traditions, and thoughtful design come together to celebrate renewal, creativity, and possibility.

This fabric carries the rhythm of a family loom in Kutch through our Reyaan community.
It is woven by Manji Bhai, who has spent more than 30 years at the loom. In his home, weaving is part of everyday life - the steady movement of the shuttle and the quiet rhythm of the loom shaping fabric thread by thread.
For this textile, Kala cotton is used - an indigenous cotton grown in the dry landscapes of western India. Resilient and naturally adapted to the region, it has been part of local textile traditions for generations.
Once the yarn is set on the loom, the fabric begins to take form. As Manji Bhai works, the motifs slowly appear directly in the cloth - not printed or embroidered later, but woven into the textile itself.
A fabric shaped by landscape, craft, and the quiet patience of the hands that make it.
