Made by the Reyaan Community:

The silk is first woven in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat, then travels to our Reyaan community in Kutch — where it undergoes the slow, layered process of Ajrakh block printing using only natural dyes. Generations of artisans carry forward Ajrakh’s rhythm, transforming fabric into philosophy.

This isn’t just a shawl. It’s a story of heritage, humanity, and handcraft.

Wear it slow. Keep it forever.

Material

Gajji Silk
Woven in Gujarat, Gajji silk is a natural, vegetable-based silk known for its soft drape, gentle sheen, and ability to hold natural dyes with depth. Unlike glossy factory silks, this one carries a quiet luster — made not to dazzle, but to glow.

Printed using the traditional Ajrakh technique, each shawl goes through up to 16 steps of hand-block printing and natural dyeing using indigo, madder root, iron scrap, and tamarind seed.
No two shawls are the same — every dot is placed by hand. Every colour is drawn from the earth.

Size

The Dot Collection Shawl measures approximately 110 cm x 110 cm — a perfect square.

  • Large enough to be worn as a wrap, scarf, turban, or even a top.

  • Light enough to fold into a handbag or carry through seasons.

  • Unisex, seasonless, and versatile — it adapts to your style, not the other way around.

Looking for ideas? Wrap it around your neck for everyday ease, belt it like a capelet, or drape it over your shoulders for an evening out.

Care

Your shawl is happiest with a little tenderness:

  • Hand wash separately in cool water using a mild -neutral detergent

  • Gently swish — do not soak for long or scrub

  • Rinse well, press out water (no wringing), and dry flat in shade

  • Iron on low while still damp, or wear crinkled for a natural look

The natural dyes may bleed slightly in the first few washes — this is part of their nature, not a flaw. With each gentle wash, your shawl softens, deepens, and becomes more yours.

Every fibre holds the memory of hands and time — care for it, and it will stay with you for years to come.

The Craft Story: The Dot Collection Shawl

Our Dot Collection shawl is more than something to wear—it’s a map of centuries-old techniques, carried forward by steady hands in small workshops. We wanted to share its quiet journey: how silk is softened and woven, how the Ajrakh dot is placed with care, and how colour is built not from pigment alone, but from time.

1. Silk with a rooted shimmer

The base fabric is Gajji silk—a traditional, vegetable-based silk woven in Saurashtra, Gujarat. It’s known for its gentle sheen and buttery fall, but what makes it special is how it absorbs natural dye like memory. Each thread holds colour with a kind of patience that synthetic fabric never could.

2. Printing with rhythm, not machines

From the loom, the silk travels to our Reyaan community in Kutch, where the real transformation begins. Here, Ajrakh block printing unfolds: a 14-step ritual that includes resist printing, mud paste, multiple rounds of dyeing and washing, and days spent drying in open desert air.

Each motif begins with a dot, placed by hand. The dot becomes a circle. The circle becomes a cosmos.

3. Colours made from earth, not labs

Ajrakh doesn’t use chemical inks. Instead, natural pigments are made from indigo, madder root, iron rust, and jaggery. The shades are built up slowly, layer by layer, like sediment or song. This is colour that won’t crack with time—it will deepen.

4. Made slow, meant to flow

The shawl is cut, finished, and checked by hand, not in a factory, but in small tailoring rooms nearby. It isn’t stitched to trend—it’s shaped to last. Soft enough to wear daily, elegant enough to carry you into evening. Every thread is meant to move with you.

Why we share this

In a world of instant everything, we believe slow things matter.
Ajrakh is one of India’s oldest living textile traditions—its geometry inspired by stars, its pace set by seasons, its colours drawn from the earth.
To know its story is to wear more than a shawl.
It’s to carry a lineage of land, craft, and quiet devotion—dot by dot, day by day.
