aira jacket dress - kala cotton rabari and applique
Aira Jacket Dress Kala Cotton — Rabari Appliqué
Some garments follow structure. Others move with you.
The Aira Jacket Dress was designed as a piece that adapts — wear it as a dress, or leave it open as a light jacket. The belt allows you to shape the silhouette depending on the day: fitted, relaxed, or somewhere in between.
At the heart of Aira is the textile — and the hands that worked on it.
The fabric is handwoven in Kala cotton, naturally dyed to a tone that feels warm and grounded. Kala cotton is an indigenous cotton grown in the dry landscapes of Kutch, requiring very little water.
The appliqué comes from the Rabari community.
The Rabari have been moving across the landscapes of Gujarat for generations, and alongside their embroidery, appliqué has always been part of how they work — fabric placed onto fabric, shaped and stitched by hand. Colours chosen with an instinct that is hard to explain and impossible to replicate.
Here, those pieces of fabric find a new surface. Layered across the cloth with care, they bring texture and a certain warmth — like something quietly blooming.
The Aira Jacket Dress is part of our Bloom collection, where materials, craft traditions, and design come together slowly — much like the natural world that inspires them.

This fabric carries the rhythm of a family loom in Kutch through our Reyaan community.
It is woven by Manji Bhai, who has spent more than 30 years at the loom. In his home, weaving is part of everyday life - the steady movement of the shuttle and the quiet rhythm of the loom shaping fabric thread by thread.
For this textile, Kala cotton is used - an indigenous cotton grown in the dry landscapes of western India. Resilient and naturally adapted to the region, it has been part of local textile traditions for generations.
Once the yarn is set on the loom, the fabric begins to take form. As Manji Bhai works, the motifs slowly appear directly in the cloth - not printed or embroidered later, but woven into the textile itself.
A fabric shaped by landscape, craft, and the quiet patience of the hands that make it.
