Kantha Trench Coat | Cotton Sarees, Reimagined
Old sarees, new adventures. Part of our Waste to Wonder collection, each trench coat is made from vintage cotton Kantha textiles—layers of pre-loved cotton sarees brought together by hand through rows of Kantha stitching. Fabrics with a past, reimagined in a silhouette ready for wherever you take it next.
A Familiar Shape, Full of Character
The trench takes a colourful turn. With its relaxed feel and richly patterned cotton, this coat brings a little play to everyday dressing. Wear it open over your favourite jeans, layer it over a dress, or mix it with patterns of your own.
Only One Like Yours
Each coat carries its own combination of colours, prints and hand stitching. The vintage fabrics make every piece unique, so the coat you choose is yours alone.
A Past You Can Feel
These cotton fabrics have lived a life before becoming your coat. Their softness, subtle variations and little traces of age are part of their character. Kantha stitching holds those layers—and their stories—together.
The Hands Behind Your Coat
We co-create our Kantha coats with the women artisans of our Bondutha community in West Bengal. Drawing on skills passed down through generations, their handwork gives each piece its distinctive texture and character. Together, we give familiar fabrics a fresh expression.
Material
Made from 100% recycled cotton sarees and traditional lungis.

Kantha: Old Sarees, New Stories
Ever wonder what happens to beautiful old sarees in India? In Sikra village and other small villages in West Bengal and bodering Bangladesh, they get a second life through the age-old Kantha technique.
Here's how it works: Hawkers collect vintage sarees from all over India. These sarees are then layered (at least 4-5 layers) to first make quilts. It's usually done by groups of women who sit together, chatting and stitching, turning these old fabrics into pieces of art. Their nimble fingers create patterns that tell stories - of tradition, of their village, of the fabric's past life.
Once they're done, our tailors step in, shaping these stitched-up saree quilts into wearable art. It's slow fashion at its best - and the best part? Every piece is unique, just like you.
When you wear our Kantha pieces, you're not just looking good. You're wearing someone's labor of love, supporting a village, and giving new life to old cloth. Pretty cool, right?
